Yosemite National Park, California is one of the most beautiful places on Earth. And thanks to Dennis, we're able to appreciate the mountain trails above the valley. Dennis has led us on several expeditions in the valley - Half Dome twice and Clouds Rest. Thank you Dennis. Our favorite place to stay is the Yosemite Bug - about 10 miles north of Mariposa and 25 miles south of Yosemite Park on Highway 140. It's a 'Rustic Mountain Resort'. It has cabins, home cooking, good value beer and wine and a log fireplace. It's a real get away from it kind of place: http://www.yosemitebug.com/. |
10 July 2004. Ali's birthday. We had a fantastic weekend in Yosemite Valley, California. We were joined on the expedition by the Dermers from Seattle, Jim Poje and the families Johnson and Conner. The Jones family were also at Yosemite for the weekend and came by on Sunday morning to visit us.
The main expedition on Saturday was to Clouds Rest - a 6000 foot climb and more than 20 mile round trip. Ali and Denise climbed the Vernal and Nevada falls. The others did a little bit of this and that and just enjoyed being in Yosemite. Saturday night we all had dinner and Penny brought a cake and candles for Ali's birthday.
Truly a magical place. On Sunday Ali and I and the Dermers visited Glacier Point by car before heading back to San Jose. Just a great weekend.
