Calendar for 2006

Christmas 2005 (7 of 9) :

Last year, I made calendars made for my friends using the service at ofoto.com (now Kodak Gallery.com). 4 different calendars were made for the families Johnson, Poje, Conner and Mills. Each family's calendar was different and featured photos taken of them throughout the year. So April's photograph in 2005 would have been taken in April 2004. You've got the idea.

This year, the strategy was different. The calendars were made using cartooning software for the Mac Comic Life - http://plasq.com. Just fantastic. As you can imagine, saying good things about Adobe's competitors isn't easy for me. However let's give praise where it's deserved. Great Stuff, guys.

Anyway instead of making lots of different calendars, lots of time was spend on one calendar which was given to my friends. In a moment of enthusiasm, there was an additional production Striders 2006 Calendar. Everybody who received one said they like the calendar. Well, you wouldn't expect otherwise. They're quite good. Next year, I'll start earlier and get a proof copy. A second print run would have improved the color, eliminated unnoticed red-eye, improved captioning and taken better advantage of the final layout format.

I'm a very happy user of http://www.kodakgallery.com. However this year the calendars were printed by Sony http://www.imagestation.com. Sony made a great offer (30% off and free shipping). Sony's calendars were bigger than the Kodak's. Sony let you add notes to any day - so I added birthdays and anniversaries to the calendar. Anyway, Kodak and Sony do a great job (with quick delivery) at the very reasonable price. Thanks guys.
