Christmas Tree Lodge - December 27-31, 2005

Christmas 2005 (8 of 9) :

Between Christmas and New Year, Ali and I enjoyed a mini-holiday in the Sierras. We went with our friends the Johnson, Connor and Jones families.

We stayed at the Christmas Tree Lodge - a bed and breakfast home near Foresthill, CA. We stayed here when running on the Western States Adventure Weekend in August 2005. It's a lovely place and run by Claudia and her son Joe. We filled the place with 9 adults and 6 kids. Claudia provides great breakfasts and we use the kitchen to cater for lunch and dinner. So Christmas Tree Lodge is great value, very nice accomodation and wonderful hosts. It feels like coming home. Thank you Claudia and Joe. We hope to visit you often in future.

There's always snow in the Sierras at Christmas. However this year the snow line was between 6000 and 7000 feet. So, as the Lodge is just over 5000 feet, there was no snow outside. Anyway, we had a great time. We did family things. Games with the kids, a bit of sledging, a couple of runs, a lot of eating, some boozing. However the best bit was the enjoyment of each other's company around the log fire in the "Great Room" at the Lodge. Thanks you everybody for your wonderful company. This was lots of fun.

I took those photos around the lodge after dinner on Thursday night. You can see everybody was very relaxed and having a nice time. In fact we liked it so much we decided to extend our stay by another day.
