Our old friends Richard and Denise live in Seattle. They moved house in February and we decided to visit them and see their new abode. Wonderful. Beautiful house. Only a couple of miles from the office and in a nice neighbourhood. The house was built in 1927 and remodelled around 1990. It's impressively big and has 4 levels. There's a very nice yard and hot tub. Best of all is the location near a lake. I'd love it for running before or after work.
We flew up to Seattle on Saturday and went to the pub for lunch. After a snooze to get over the beer, we had a nice walk around the lake. Richard and I went for a run round the zoo. We relaxed in the hot tub, and followed that with dinner and a movie on the DVD player.
On Sunday we did the Mt Si trail. This is a 4 mile climb of around 4000 feet. So it's quite a hall to the top. The weather was perfect and it's a good job the mountain is covered in trees because we forgot the sunscreen. It took about 5 hours to make the round trip to the top and back. Rich went to the summit. I bottled out of the 200 foot scramble up the haystack at the top. I didn't fancy coming back down such a steep scramble. Well done, Richard.
We've been to Seattle lots of times to visit Richard and Denise - mostly at Thanksgiving. We're talking about a trip to the Grand Canyon next summer and possible Crater Lake, Oregon at Thanksgiving this year.
