Ali had a trip home to England in the fall of 2008 to just catch up on the goings on of our family and friends. She was of course really pleased to see the grandchildren Holly and Liam. Holly's now 2 years old and Liam's approaching his first birthday. Gosh, the kids grow quickly when you're away. When Ali saw Liam at Christmas, he was just a babe in arms. And now he's almost walking. Holly's got lots to say, and most of it's quite clear and intellegible.
They had a little trip to Marwell Zoo near Winchester. This zoo is famous for it's Giraffes - although there are many other animals to see.
While in England, our friend Elisabeth had her birthday and there was a very enjoyable girls's evening at "The Aviator" - a new hotel and restaurant close to Farnborough Airport. Farnborough is of course the home of British Aviation and home to the World's largest airshow every couple of years.
She also had a trip to Greethham with Elisabeth to visit the Hodsons. While on that trip, Elisabeth's son Gareth and girl-friend Vicky had lunch with everybody in the village of Colbey in Lincs.
A visit to other members of the Young family is always part of a trip to England. The photos show the family in Walton enjoying Rae's 88th birthday party. That's a lot of candles. Happy Birthday, Rae.
Ali also did a decorating project for Jamie. No pictures of either before or after. And a visit to Graeme and Carol remains in the memory - again no photos.
While all of that was going on, the guys in Wall Street were busy stealing tax payer's money in the form of bailouts. It's remarkable that the very people who have been rewarded for 'making money' are in fact the bunch of theives that I've always suspected. I'm delighted to say that my friend Dennis has rescued me from retirement by giving me some contract software development work at his company. It looks like I'll be back at work for many years to make up for the drop in the value of my investment portfolio. Thank you, Dennis. Your bailout is appreciated.
All good things come to an end and Ali returned to California on October 22. I was glad to have her back. I'd quite missed her while she was gone.
