Gaylords Birthday - August 31, 2008.

My wonderful friend Gaylord is 70 on September 3, 2008. Gosh, we're all getting on a bit. I've known Gaylord for 30 years. We worked together in London in the late 70's. Then he moved back to the States. Although we visited each other a few times in the 80s both in England and in California, we lost touch for about 15 years. When I joined Adobe in 1998 and started to visit California regularly, Ali said "Let's find Gaylord - I bet you he's still living in the Bay Area".

And indeed we found him using some internet search thing - these were the days before Google. And now we see him quite regularly. We were going the theatre most months while his daughter Michele worked for Theatre Works. Now she's moved and visits to San Jose to use the hot tub in our condo complex are more usual.

Anyway, Sunday was a very special day and it was great to be able to share the occasion with him and his family. His sister Janine came from Austin, TX and his niece Lauren from New York, NY. And of course daughter Michele and son Robin. The party was very graciously hosted by Jen - one of Michele's buddies. And there was a jolly nice turnout of chums to tuck into a BBQ on the deck.
