Home From Twentynine Palms

All good things come to an end and on January 2, 2009 we set off for the 485 mile journey back to San Jose. No trouble with traffic this time - 8½ hours door to door including three stops for gas, lunch and coffee.

I'd like to say a few words about the accomodation at the Sunnyvale Garden Suites. Very nice. The Johnsons had a 2 bedroom suite with a nice kitchen and a lounge/dinner. Ali and I had a single room suite - however it was very roomy. The owner of the establishment had clearly had fun with the external decoration of the buildings - lots of "Wild West" signs and outdoor artifacts. Highly recommended. Good value, clean and in good decorative order.

I'm not too sure why I decided to take those photos. I don't think I've ever bothered to take photos on the freeway before. However Ali took the first spell of driving from Twentynine Palms to San Fernando and I suppose I took the photos because I wasn't driving. Anyway, nothing special here - however the price of gas in Twentynine Palms might seem remarkable in years to come.
