Columbia River, Washington - July 25, 2009

Vacation 2009 (4 of 21) :

When the train leaves Portland, it crosses the Columbia River into the state of Washington and follow the river for hundreds of miles. Penny and I ran a marathon in 2004 in the Columbia River Gorge from The Dalles to Hood River City. So it was fun to see the course from the north shore of the river.

The total distance from Portland to Glacier National Park is about 650 miles - however we were all in bed by about 9:30 or so and left the train to do the driving. In the morning we awoke and went to breakfast as we arrived at Glacier National Park.
