The railway track from West Glacier to East Glacier has to be one of the most beautiful in the world. As a boy, I used to admire a huge poster in the waiting room in the station at Largs of a train snaking its way across the rockies beside the river, across bridges and through tunnels. Maybe this is it - it's got to be one of the four mountain railways of North America.

When we arrived at East Glacier, we collected our rental cars and went for a walk at Two Medicine Lake. It was really beautiful. We did about 10 miles. 4 miles round the lake and 3 to "No Name Lake" and 3 back to the boat pier. We skipped the final 4 round the lake and that's just as well because as we got off the boat, the heavens opened and we had a huge downpour of rain with thunder and lightening. The rain was torrential. We didn't care too much - we'd found a restaurant for dinner and that was great.

We stayed in a beautiful Bed and Breakfast Lodge about 50 miles from Glacier in Valier, Montana It's an 1900 Stone School House which has been beautifully restored. The accomodation is luxurious and the welcome warm and friendly. Great Value and Highly Recommended.
