PyCon 2010

I've had an amazing weekend in Atlanta, GA at PyCon 2010 - the Python Conference.

My buddies Stani and Nadia came from Europe to give a paper and I decided to attend and give them a cheer. Nadia and Stani gave a very good presentation on the subject of packaging python multiplatform desktop applications. They also put a great deal of effort into the technical paper which provides the roadmap for future reference. Great Job, guys.

I can't recall ever going away to a conference like that before. Adobe have a "Tech Summit" every couple of years in San Jose and this conference is a lot like that. However PyCon was different because I went off to Atlanta for the event. And I paid for this myself. So it was a unique experience.

Ali and I met Nadia when she came to San Jose for a conference in 2009 and this was the first time that I met Stani. He's just as amazing as I anticipated. Both those folks are remarkable people. Nadia's husband Ayman also attended the conference. Ayman and I both gave a 'ligthning presentation' a 5 minute presentation to 1,000 folks. Ayman discussed debugging Python and I described Phatch in general and my GeoTag action in particular.
