Whale Lighting

Christmas 2011 (1 of 9) :

There is a Marine Discovery Center at the University of California at Santa Cruz (UCSC). They have a couple of skeletons of whales outside the center. While most cities have a cermony to switch on the Christmas Lights on their Tree, the Discover Center have a cermony to switch on the lights to decorate Ms Blue - the Skeleton of a Blue Whale. They call the ceremony "Jingle Shells".

The center is interesting. It was very busy both with visitors and exhibitors for an Arts and Crafts Fair. I've never been to a tree lighting ceremony, yet alone a whale lighting ceremony. I was very impressed. It was a beautiful winter's day. A little cold after dark at the seaside of course. Afterwards, I had fish and chips in Aptos and Jim and Sandy entertained us with coffee and cookies back at their place.

Thanks for inviting us over to this. Good Fun and very unusual - in fact totally unique.
