July 4, 2012

We had a very nice day on July 4. Independence Day. The Nation is 236 years old today. My first "4th" as a US Citizen.

In the morning Ali went hill-walking with Hazel. I went to Campbell to join my buddies in "Go Far Run Club" for a little exercise on the track.

In the afternoon, Meghan - the club organizer - and her husband Josh had the club round for a BBQ. They had a movie about the Western States 100 mile Endurance Run. And beer and BBQ and some games. Thanks Meghan and Josh.

In the evening I had a little sleep (no beer, just tired) and then we watched the concert and fireworks from the National Mall in Washington, DC.

United States  Finland
The founding fathers had the right idea when they decided to declare Independence on July 4.

National BBQ Day. Bright sunny and warm.

I’m a US Citizen and very happy and proud to call America "Home".
Finland (I worked for a Finnish company for 7 years) declared Independence on December 6, 1917 (following the Bolshevik Revolution).

National do nothing day. Cold, wet and dark.

I’m a European Citizen, so I’m almost a Finn by proxy.

I rejoice in my association with both the USA and Finland. Both country's have been very generous to me and Ali in their hospitality, friendships, vacations, employment and many other ways.
