Miwok Trail

Ali and I went for a walk on the Miwok Trail. This is on the Marin Headlands to the North of Golden Gate Bridge. It's a National Recreation Area and managed by the National Park Service. "Miwok" is the name of the Native American Indians who populated this area. There's a network of trails covering an area of about 35 miles in length and 8 miles in width.

Michelle was running in the the inaugral of a new 50 mile event and did an amazing time of 11 hours 30 minutes. She placed 2nd in the Ladies. A really remarkable result. She did so well, we weren't at the finish to see her come in. I thought the even started at 7am and was expecting her to finish about 7pm. It started at 6:00am and she was done at 5:30pm.

I'm very impressed by her performance. Not only is this 1 hour faster than Quicksilver 50 on May 19 (6 weeks ago), the event has 3000 feet more climbing. Scaling her performance, she'd complete the Miwok 100k in 14 hours - a very respectable time. Today's event and Miwok 100k have 11,000 feet of climbing. This is a tough event. Well done, Michelle. I'm very proud of you.

Michelle's next competitive event is a 75 miler in Lockport, NY in mid-August. I'm going to train to run 25 miles with her on vacation in New York.
