Yosemite |
November 2006 |
Yosemite National Park, California is one of the most beautiful places on Earth. And thanks to Dennis, we're able to appreciate the mountain trails above the valley. Dennis has led us on several expeditions in the valley - Half Dome twice and Clouds Rest. Thank you Dennis. Our favorite place to stay is the Yosemite Bug - about 10 miles north of Mariposa and 25 miles south of Yosemite Park on Highway 140. It's a 'Rustic Mountain Resort'. It has cabins, home cooking, good value beer and wine and a log fireplace. It's a real get away from it kind of place: http://www.yosemitebug.com/. |
The third day of this amazing adventure began with a trip to the river to swim. I'm never one for cold water and I can't remember the last time I swam in a river. Probably when I was a teenager in the Scouts! Anyway, while walking about in the water, I slipped on the rocks and I was in! I pretended it was deliberate. Not as cold as I thought - it was fun.
In the afternoon, Ali and I drove up to Glacier Point. We'd been told the view was amazing and it didn't disappoint. When we'd been in Yosemite with the boys in 2002, the road to Glacier Point was closed due to snow. We were amazed and delighted by the view. And of course looking forward to our next trip to Yosemite.
