| The Kronikles - a story in many parts | |
|
Ruth and I planned to spend six weeks on a driving holiday up the East Coast of Australia. Although the itinerary was flexible, the general intent was to drive north to Townsville along the coast and return to Geelong via inland. Hence up reef (the coast) and down beef (the interior – where the cows are). In the course of our travels, noting the low temperatures inland, we returned along the coast. We did chuck a leftie at Batemans Bay and drove back via Canberra and Wodonga. To conform to the beef part I did have a mixed grill at the Murray River Hotel (36 High St Wodonga – “Great Beer, Great Food, Great Pub”. Ruth had Lamb’s (Liver) Fry. A summary of the trip: Geelong, Buchan, Wolumla (at Pambula), Kiama, Hunter Valley, Evans Head at Rex and Ann’s with Noel and Marion, Brisbane at Byrne’s. Sick of driving so we left the car at Byrne’s and flew to Townsville staying with Brad and Darlene. Back at Brisbane Merv and Liisa Byrne picked us up at the airport driving to Noosa. Returning to Brisbane we drive to Casuarina Beach staying at Noel and Marion with Rex and Anne. On to Evans Head again to Rex and Anne’s then to Nambucca Heads meeting up with Darryl and Sue. Next stop Port Stephens and then Woy,Woy. On to Kiama via spectacular Stanwell Park. From Kiama to Canberra via Batemans bay, to Wodonga returning to Geelong via Lancefield, Bacchus Marsh.
