Driving to Aid Stations

From South Bay/San Francisco to Rodeo Lagoon

Take 101 North to the Alexander Avenue exit. Turn left at the stop sign (follow "Marin Headlands" signs) and go under the freeway. Go right up the hill onto Conzelman Road. Stay on Conzelman for ~1.1 miles and turn right onto McCullough Road, following it down the hill to the stop sign. Turn left onto Bunker Road and follow it for ~2 miles to the end at Rodeo Beach. Park as directed by our volunteer parking czars.

From North Bay/Richmond Bridge to Rodeo Lagoon

Take 101 South to the second Sausalito exit. This is the first exit after you have gone through the Waldo Tunnel, and is immediately at the North end of the Golden Gate Bridge. Turn left at the stop sign and immediately right up the hill onto Conzelman Road. Stay on Conzelman for ~1.1 miles and turn right onto McCullough Road, following it down the hill to the stop sign. Turn left onto Bunker Road and follow it for ~2 miles to the end at Rodeo Beach. Park as directed by our volunteer parking czars.

Rodeo Lagoon to Tennessee Valley

Retrace your route back on Bunker Road for about 2 miles. Turn right on McCullough and go up the hill to the stop sign. Be careful at the top as you are crossing the race course. Turn left onto Conzelman Road and take it down the hill to Highway 101. Follow the signs for 101 North and get onto the freeway. Exit at Hwy 1/Stinson Beach. After about 0.4 miles you will see Tennessee Valley Road on your left. (If you get to the Dipsea Café, you have gone too far. Stop, buy a cup of coffee - or, better yet, have breakfast - and then go to the Aid Station.) Turn left here and follow Tennessee Valley Road to the end.

The Course

Very hilly (approximately 10,000 feet of cumulative elevation gain) with spectacular views of San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge, Mt. Tamalpais, Tomales Bay and the Point Reyes National Seashore. Modified out and back. Mostly fire roads and single track trails with approximately 5 miles on roads.

Outward bound

Rodeo Lagoon to Bunker Road (6.2)

Start is on the beach at Rodeo Lagoon. Cross the beach and veer Left onto Lagoon Trail. Lagoon Trail comes out at the Marin Headlands Visitor Center, where you will turn Right and run up Field Road. Follow course markers and head Left onto Conzelman Road to the junction of McCullough. Left on McCullough and immediately Left onto Coastal Fire Road. Follow the fire road down the hill for 1.6 miles. As you approach Bunker Road, the trail forks. Stay to the Right and cross the road.

Bunker Road (6.2) to Tennessee Valley (11.9)

Turn Right and follow Rodeo Valley Trail up the hill to the intersection with Bobcat Trail. Turn Left on Bobcat. Look for markers on the left as you go up the hill (~.7 miles from the last junction.) This small path stays East of the radio tower fence and throws you onto Miwok Trail. Follow Miwok downhill, take a Right at Old Springs to Tennessee Valley (11.9 miles)

Homeward Bound

Tennessee Valley (58.4) to Rodeo Lagoon (62.1)

Head back up Old Springs. Turn Right onto Miwok. Look for a Right turn onto Wolf Ridge. Climb UP for the last time to the paved road at the top on your left. Run down the hill until you see a white fence and walk zone sign. Take a sharp Left onto Coastal Trail. Wow, check out that view! Follow trail, road and stairs down down down to the Finish at Rodeo Lagoon (100k = 62.1 miles)
